Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

The Grave Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One senior CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences include:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
