Iran Claims Strike on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
