Outrage as Popular South African DJ Shot Dead in Johannesburg.

A popular South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the metropolis of Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a nation grappling with rampant crime.

Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the downtown area on the afternoon of Tuesday.

Police said the 40-year-old media personality was approached by three individuals, with one opened fire on him before escaping on foot.

The motive of the shooting has not been established and no arrests are in custody, according to authorities.

The Fatal Incident

Authorities said that Stock was attacked as he was departing from a location close to the city center landmark.

He had been present for hours at the site supervising the setup of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, according to reports.

"It is alleged the deceased was approached by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before escaping on foot," an official report confirmed.

Security camera video reportedly depicted a suspect with dreadlocked hair and dressed in what resembled a protective services outfit opening fire on Stock before fleeing.

The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but collapsed across the street.

Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the incident.

Key evidence, like bullet casings, were discovered at the crime scene.

Authorities have requested anyone who saw the event who may have witnessed the attack to contact them.

"Our information indicates they covered significant ground after the shooting, and officers have been attempting to locate them to find their location," added an official.

His sister, Nicole Stock, stated the family was struggling to understand the tragedy.

"I am devastated. I don't have words," she stated.
"We know he was a champion for numerous individuals. He was a fearless commentator about issues not many people were prepared to discuss. This is a devastating blow."

She appealed to the public to not sharing explicit content from the incident, saying this was an extremely painful time, particularly for Stock's young family.

His Professional Legacy

Stock was the presenter of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that premiered on a popular local digital satellite entertainment channel.

Beyond his media career, Stock was involved in various commercial activities, including protective services, providing VIP protection services and securing high-profile events across South Africa.

He was also said to be engaged in real estate operations and assisted with tenant removals.

His murder has caused national trauma and led to an flood of condolences from his followers, the authorities and various organizations.

A senior figure commented he was outraged and heartbroken by Stock's untimely death.
