President Trump Welcomes Relatives of Injured Military Personnel to the Presidential Residence

Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the executive mansion.

He noted that he conversed with her parents and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Tragic Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Gatherings across West Virginia have been held in their memory.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president informed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Attendees came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to aid policing efforts in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors desired. She behaved with quiet strength, a bright grin and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the media. “She was kind, compassionate and always eager to help others.”

Funeral details for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Legal Steps and Government Adjustments

Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The incident caused the government to suspend refugee claims and temporarily stop granting entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of the Airman

Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor the governor stated on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on the program that she aimed to meet with his relatives.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had courage,” Morrisey told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
