Previous British Broadcasting Corporation Specialists Undergo MPs' Grilling Following Claims of Partiality in Leaked Document

Former BBC advisers testifying at parliamentary committee

We open with queries from Conservative MP the committee chair, who oversees the panel.

She commences by offering background to the unauthorized document authored by Michael Prescott and printed in a national newspaper.

"I don't want the BBC tilting this way or that way, I just want it straight, fair and equitable," he states.

When asked if he considers the BBC is institutionally biased, the adviser answers: "Absolutely not. Let's be clear, tons of stuff the British Broadcasting Corporation does is exceptional - encompassing documentary and non-factual programming."

But he adds: "There remains real work that must be undertaken at the BBC."

Another former external BBC specialist questioned by the committee, Caroline Daniel, remarks she takes the British Broadcasting Corporation very seriously and that it maintains a "ongoing system and lively discussion" across dynamic and complex topics.

"Was the BBC prepared to engage in a proper discussion and exchange and take action?" she reflects. "In my view, yes they were."
