The British player advanced to round three in three of the four Grand Slams this year.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the last two tournaments in 2025 because of a health issue she has been fighting over the past 10 days.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to rest and recuperate prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.

Her upcoming training will involve coach Francisco Roig, as they will keep partnering in 2026.

She had her blood pressure taken in her opening round against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and stopped playing when behind 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in round one.

She was also playing far from freely in the final set versus Zhu because of back discomfort that has been a concern at times this year.

Such performances signaled a promising season, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 after more than three years for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points prior to falling to Pegula in round three in Beijing last month.

She secured twenty-eight matches in the current season and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.

Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way prior to a loss in a three-set match to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She worked with Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig taking over for the US Open.

The first plan with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled late this year.

Raducanu told that her three-day trial alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She nearly succeeded to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
